a funny anecdote

we live in a not-so-big townhouse. lately, eljo has been making comments about how he doesn't like our house because it's too small. last night, on our way home from his lola's house, he mentioned again that he doesn't like our house. so began our little conversation:

mama: is our house small?
eljo: yes.
(after a short pause)
mama: if our house is small, how come we can all fit in?
(this time, he paused...)
eljo: because we're small also.

wow! how's that for logical thinking. i'm so proud of my son.

Family Olympics

Last Sept 3, Eljo had his first taste of team sports, a.k.a. the family Olympics. It is a school-wide activity where kids bring their families to play friendly-competitive games against other families. It was also the first time for me to join the family Olympics as a mom and not as a teacher. So it was weird for me to be on the other side of the fence now.

Anyway, we belonged to the red team. (funny, I seem to always belong to this color...) A team consists of families from different classes, that is, some of Eljo's classmates may be with the blue or yellow team. In this case, Eljo had Cobi and Miggy as teammates.

Eljo did not really get to participate in any of the games, on his own volition. But I think he still enjoyed the day, running with Elle across the basketball court, observing the other kids and parents play the games.

He was so tired that on the way home he and Elle fell asleep in the car.

Oh! and by the way, we got some goodies from the school being the 2nd runner-up team. Not bad, right?
